CORE Uganda held a closure workshop on 21st December 2021 to showcase the achievements and activities which have been conducted and implemented in the 2 years it has worked in Bukalasi sub-county, Bududa District. The workshop was held at Bukalasi primary school and all stakeholders partnering with CORE were in attendance.
The objectives for the closure workshop were as follows;
To showcase the achievements of the farmers’ groups and schools which have worked with CORE Uganda for the past 2 years
To showcase the knowledge gained by the project participants and show the achieved project targets
To review the empowerment plan by CORE and proposals on how to make it better
Introduce the farmer groups and school projects to district stakeholders creating a link for marketing the raised seedlings and knowledge transfer.
The farmers’ groups were represented by a member from Lukongo, Mr Masawi Fred, who acknowledged that they indeed required the skills and technical assistance they received from CORE to be able to do better soil conservation practices and also learn to raise trees. He thanked CORE for continuously supporting them with materials like the tree nursery tools and tanks which they will continue to use even after the project has ended.
The DFO was represented by her assistant Mr Wanganda Geoffrey who thanked CORE for reaching areas of fragility and helping the district achieve its mandate. He stated that although the district is meant to do the work CORE has been doing, it does not have the full monetary capacity and CORE coming in to help means a lot to them.
