Building resilient rural communities in over 30 countries

Through sustainable roads, livelihoods, water, sanitation, and environmental stewardship

Community Road Empowerment (CORE) is an international non-profit organization that works with rural communities to unlock access, opportunity, and dignity. We design and deliver practical, community-led solutions that improve infrastructure, strengthen livelihoods, protect the environment, and enhance quality of life for underserved populations.

OUR FOCUS

Rural Roads Improvement and Maintenance

Road spot improvement and maintenance of unpaved roads using Do-nou technology developed in Japan.

Community mobilization and organization

Community engagements through mobilization of local community members to participate and engage in development initiatives and mindset change.

Environmental Conservation

Seedlings production through nursery bed establishment, Tree planting, and improved/better farming methods.

Practical solutions. Local ownership. Sustainable results.

Our approach combines technical expertise with deep community engagement. We work alongside beneficiaries to design solutions that respond to real needs, use locally available resources, and are maintained by the community long after project completion. This model ensures ownership, accountability, and long-term impact.

Voices from the field

A glimpse into the resilience and hope of the communities we serve, told in their own words.

I am grateful to CORE, UNDP and the Japanese government for bringing such a project to us because it not only improved our livelihood but also access to social amenities. The Do-nou technology from Japan is also a very good one for impassable sections and I am glad some of our people have learned the skill.

Mr. Oroma Bosco

Councilor for Ogili sub county

In this household I and the children are in charge of collecting firewood. Given that unity trading centre where we stay is highly populated and busy, we have to travel far off into the host community for firewood. Previously when we were using the 3-stone fire stove, we would collect firewood more frequently, but the new technology has reduced our burden.

Mr. Beam Deus

Husband to Flow Amuno

I have always wanted to rear turkeys in addition to the chicken I have but buying them was a bit costly for me. After saving some money from the cash for work activities with CORE, I knew that the opportunity to venture into the turkey business has come. I bought the turkeys and started my business.

Abodo Rosemary

Heading Pii Anyiim Savings group in Lugwar Village

I am grateful for the programme CORE introduced because they have planted for me 3 acres of black teak, supported us with weeding and trained us on the management of the woodlots. With the knowledge I have obtained, I can now manage this plantation and even plant more for myself in the future.
